About the Founder

Karl Atkinson worked for years as an independent utility analyst and infrastructure evaluator for the State of Massachusetts. Through his company, he collected thousands of utility data points across residential developments, revealing inconsistent showerhead consumption, uneven hot water distribution, flow irregularities, and significant water waste costing property owners thousands of dollars.

To solve these issues, Karl created CHECKPOINT and secured the patent for the SHOWERHEAD LOCK — a water-tight compound rotary hydrostatic connector. This frictionless fitting standardizes showerhead performance across developments, reduces operational costs, and protects plumbing systems from overuse.

Today, the SHOWERHEAD LOCK is used in housing developments across New England and other water-sensitive regions. CHECKPOINT has also expanded into connector solutions for robotics, ship-to-shore systems, and seismic-resistant infrastructure applications.
